William Ormskirk Bowler was a Revolutionary War soldier but we believe he Allegedly deserted the British and fought on the "American" side, he had 5 wives and 15 children, that we know of, more about him at www.n6jv.us.
Also I would like to point out that we have William Ormskirk as a result of DNA testing between myself and Daniel Bowler who is a direct descendent of William, according to A family Bible his father was named Joseph, the only Joseph I have found who would fit the bill is Joseph Bowler born 1732 in Mansfield Woodhouse Nottinghamshire, so I have attached William Ormskirk to him, just so anyone looking in is aware of this link

Notes for GEORGE BOWLER:
George Bowler b 3rd April 1895 at Oxley Brisbane Qld. When old enough joined the railway as a cleaner/fireman. During World War 1 enlisted in the war and on 29th March 1916 left Enoggera with the 25th Battalion for Sydney to board the ship "Star of Victoria". Time was spent in the Middle East and then the harsh battle in France. While serving as a machine gunner, he was wounded in the arm with shrapnel and sent to England to recover. While in England he visited a boarding house run by relatives of his mother (Harriet Jane Smith) and met Gladys Georgina Holland (born 18th October 1894 at 22 Eastbourne Rd Birkdale, Ormskirk Lancaster, daughter of Charles Holland and Louisa Ellen Colwell who ran the boarding house) The interesting factor here is that George's grandmother (Harriet Jane's mother) was Amelia Colwell. Louisa Ellen and Amelia were sisters. Therefore George and Gladys were related. Gladys Georgina Holland learned piano and gained her cap and gown from Trinity College of London and taught music. George had a fine silver tenor voice and they played and sang together. George returned to active service and went back to Australia after armistice. Gladys left from Liverpool on the "New Zealandic" and arrived in Brisbane 21st May 1880. She brought her piano stool which had been specially made for her at the age of 8 ( I have this stool) She boarded in Ann St Brisbane. George and Gladys were married in the Albert St Methodist Church (opposite City Hall in Brisbane) on 26th June 1920. George bought Gladys an upright grand piano when they moved into Strath St home when Fred and Harriet moved out. (Remember that Harriet Jane and Gladys were cousins… now Harriet Jane was also Glady's mother in law!) George and Gladys used to play and sing for social occasions and were on stage in City Hall Brisbane when their boys were young.
George worked back in the railway as a fireman at Mayne Junction.
Two sons were born, George Vincent (No. 202) and Allen Charles (No. 203)(my father) The family spent 1932-33 in Charleville and then back to Brisbane. On 20th October, 1938 he left on his own to go to Charter's Towers in North Qld to start workas a train driver and was to arrange accommodation for the family to follow. Tragically he was killed in a head on train collision at Moselle as driver of one of the trains in an accident of unfortunate timing. Gladys went on to buy and run 2 cake shops in Newmarket Brisbane. She sold them in 1944 and remarried to George Blower 15th Dec 1945 and lived in Redcliffe until they moved to a nursing home in Caboolture . (I have to confirm dates when George and Gladys died) Their ashes are both in the wall of the Caboolture Cemetry.
